Food – stall hopping at Chowpatty in Mumbai takes the cake!
Mumbai is one place that you can go to gorge on typical India fast food. This city that never sleeps is a delight for food lovers, and for those who haven’t been here, they simply must!
The two most popular beaches in Mumbai are Juhu beach in the suburbs, and Chowpatty in the Southern part of the city. Both of these places are extremely popular with the public, and in the evening, people come by the throngs to spend time at the beach and to have a snack or two.
Chowpatty, which means beach in Hindi, is definitely the cleaner of the two beaches, although Juhu beach has seen a lot of improvement over the last few years. It is a nice experience just walking down Chowpatty, with friends, your better half or even by yourself.
The best thing about both these beaches is the food. There are rows and rows of food and drink stalls. Some of the popular preparations are ‘chaat’, which consists of a variety of dishes such as paani puri, sev puri and lots more. Another thing you must not miss out while at Chowpatty are the golas, which are basically crushed ice-lollies with various flavours ranging from raw mango to butterscotch. Then of course, to top it off, there’s the paan, which is an after food digestive cum breath freshener, and is made of a variety of condiments and spics, all wrapped up in a beetle nut leaf. And the best part of all this is, that it is so affordable!
So, if you are in Mumbai, do not miss out on this wild experience, as it will definitely send your taste buds into overdrive!
