Thai food has always been a popular dining option around the world and many restaurants serve the specialty cuisine. Finding authentic Thai food is rare and Chennai’s Benjarong restaurant is one such rarity.
The restaurant is located in Alwarpet on Cathedral Road. The Agri Horticultural Society Gardens will be a proper landmark as it is located close to Benjarong restaurant.
Being a part of a the famous Oriental Group of hotels, you can expect good service and exceptional quality of food. While you are here, do try their speciality dishes like Kaeng Keow Whan, Phak Vollappa and Pla Rad Prik. The food is cooked with authentic Thai condiments and prepared by trained staff which makes eating here a remarkable experience.
The ambiance of the restaurant reflects the Oriental personality of its cuisines. Dim lighting, comfortable wooden furniture and trinkets scattered all over the place give the place an atmosphere of class.
The menu consists of both vegetarian as well as non vegetarian dishes, both of which are present in adequate amount so as to appeal to all types of patrons. Smoking is not allowed inside the restaurant, but the staff allows you to have a smoke in the small courtyard outside the dining area.
For those who would like to try something apart from Thai food, a section called as ‘Teepan’ serves Japanese food. Though these dishes taste amazing, it will be recommended to stick to the Thai dishes as this is the restaurant’s specialty.
As it is a five star restaurant, dining here is a slightly expensive affair. But they accept credit/ debit cards from major banks and the meal is definitely worth the money.
