Goa is a great holiday destination. There’s no doubt about it. How can you go wrong with sun kissed beaches and a rocking night life? But one drawback of this tiny coastal region is that there is not much on offer for a vegetarian.
In lieu of this, a number of veggie restaurants are popping up in the last couple of years. These cater to the hordes of foreign tourists that are crazy for all things Goan. In fact, many of these cool veggie joints are run by the local expats. One such place is the popular Bean Me Up- Soya Station and Salad Bar. It was started a couple years back by Lisa Camps. This resto-bar offers a variety of organically grown fare that is fresh, healthy and most importantly, tasty!
Bean Me Up exudes a laid back charm with its soaring parachutes and tranquil greenery. In order to make the place child friendly, it has put together a “Kid’s Corner”. So parents can enjoy a nice quiet evening while the kids are happily entertained. From time to time, Bean Me Up also hosts musical and cultural events. Keep an eye out for these!
Food-wise, there is surprisingly lot on offer. The salads are dished up either as combos or a la carte with delicious homemade dressings. The “Soya Station” offers everything tofu, right from tofu lasagna to tofu ice cream and tofu cheesecake! The wood oven pizzas and energy juices are also worth a try.
