The name ‘Masemari’ (means ‘fishing’ in Marathi), truly drives it’s meaning home by serving some authentic good quality fish without going the traditional way. The food served here is  the closest thing to ‘home-cooked’ food without excessive sauces, masalas and seasoning. There is a mix of authentic preparations, experimental inventions and delicacies which are both simple and unique. For all you fish lovers, Masemari is where you need to be.

The extensive menu has fish preparations from Maharashtra coasts including crabs, prawns, pomphret,  surmai and many more lip-smacking dishes. Every type of fish is listed individually and recommendations for accompaniments are mentioned. Fish is available in a variety of preparations like deep fried, shallow fried, rawa fried, tawa fried, tawa masala, konkani masala, goan curry, gassi, malvani, vindaloo and some Mongolian curries.

Besides fish, Masemari also includes chicken, mutton preparations as well as a few other paneer and mushroom vegetarian dishes. Dishes not worth missing would be the Burnt Garlic Crispy Squid, Bombay Duck Fry and Poppadum Platter. It is also recommended that you try some of the accompanied dished like Vade, Amboli instead of the usual chapati and bhakri. The restaurant serves the complementary welcome drink ‘Tival’ and also the delicious ‘Solkadhi’ which you could sip on before or after the meal. The main course has some tasty dishes like the Prawns Konkani Masala , the Goan Curry and the Rice Bhakri.

The staff is courteous and suggestive about ingredients and accompaniments to these dishes. The fantastically done décor also boasts of a 10 – foot tall light house at the entrance, which suffices as a fine landmark to locate the eatery. This restaurant, though closed on every Sankashti Chaturthi, deserves more than one visit to fully satisfy your appetite.  Be careful to mention your threshold for spice as it can be adjusted. So go, get your catch!
