Travelling to Lakshadweep
By air -
If you wish to travel by air then you will have to go via Cochin. Cochin is connected to all major airports in India and abroad. You can take flight to Lakshadweep only six days in a week. Agatti airport at Lakshadweep is where your aircraft from Cochin will take you. Further you can travel by helicopter from Agatti to Bangaram during monsoon, and to Kavaratti the whole year
By ship -
Another route to Lakshadweep is by water. New star cruise can be taken from Mumbai to (Kadmat) Lakshadweep via Goa, or directly to Kadmat. The cruise though costs a little more is more comfortable and has accommodation ranging from economic to sophisticated. If you wish to travel from Cochin then you can take up a small four-sitter ship to Lakshadweep. These ships offer different range of accommodation from a/c deluxe to a/c sitting. Ships have their own cafeteria and entertainment arranged for you. It takes around 14 to 20 hrs. to reach Lakshadweep from Cochin.
What to wear?
Though the average temperature remains same in Lakshadweep through out the year. Light cotton clothes are advisable during summer to beat the heat. During monsoons one must carry protection. In winter it gets a bit cooler so light sweaters can be carried if you plan to visit during that season.
