Bringing beaches back

Ask a child what would make a happy memory for him; ask a couple what will make a perfect date; ask your grandparents where they would like to go for a bit of peace and quiet…you may be surprised but the answer for all of them could well be a BEACH.

Beaches have always been surrounded by this aura of serenity and romance but this aura has been slowly diminishing over the years. Beaches are losing out to malls and pubs, and although those too are fun, it’s time to bring beaches back in fashion.

Here are the top five things that should make you pack your bags, put on some shorts, rub on some suntan lotion and spend some lazy moments at the nearest beach.

Waves – If you love music and sounds there can be nothing more soothing than to hear wave upon wave of water crash onto a rock. That sizzling, lilting sound of water meeting earth shall leave you mesmerized for hours together and if you’d sit to think of it, when was the last time you just sat listening and doing nothing? The beaches invite you.

Sand – Beaches and sand are synonymous. Those coarse, brown grains that slip into the nooks and crannies of your feet, calming down the tension in one’s body…it’s a yoga-esque session and it’s for free.

Shovel – Shovels, sand, a bucket and you are ready to build the castle of your dream. Beaches can take you back to those happy-go-lucky days when you believed that sand castles and sand sculptures are the best thing that could happen to you, and why not. Return to your happy days, return to beaches.

Beach Soccer – A beach is all-inviting. For all those passionate football lovers, gather your friends and get ready to kick and roll in the sand playing what you love – football. The goalpost – the sea beyond.

Lifeguard – This should be tempting enough. How many of us have grown up watching Baywatch and have stared with dazed eyes at the beautiful/handsome lifeguards cum heroes. Stroll onto a beach and you may just run into one.

Relaxed. Laid-back. Pleasurable. That’s what a beach has to offer. So what are you waiting for? Let’s bring the beaches back.
