    Currency

    The local currency is Indian Rupee.

    100 Paise = 1 Rupee

    There are various denominations of Rs.1, Rs.2, Rs.5, Rs.10, Rs.20, Rs.50, Rs.100, Rs.500, Rs.1000 notes. Besides these, there are coins of Rs.1, Rs.2 Rs.5, 25 Paise and 50 Paise.

    Money Exchange

    It is not allowed to purchase Indian currency outside India. As soon as you reach Goa or India, you can get your currency exchanged into Indian Rupees. You can exchange your currency at state banks like State Bank of India, Bank of India etc and also at most of the bigger private banks like HDFC, ICICI etc to get the best rates. Besides, there are a number of private money changers who can help you with it.

    Credit Cards like Visa, MasterCard, American Express etc and Travelers cheques of major brands are widely accepted.

    The US Dollar and the UK Pounds are the most widely accepted currencies.
