    Anjuna Beach

About 8 kms away from Mapusa, between Baga beach and Vagator beach.

    Why Anjuna?

Anjuna is known for its parties and hippie background. Anjuna was the favorite haunt of the party revelers in the 1960?s. There were a lot of hippies frequenting this beach in Goa. It?s believed that the Goa trance originated scene originated here. Even today Anjuna has the famous full moon parties or rave parties full of dance and trance music that extend until early morning. Anjuna is one of the liveliest beaches in Goa.

    What else?

Nearby the beach is famous and wonderful Albuquerque Mansion that was built in 1920. Other buildings worth visiting are the Chapora Fort and the Mascarenhas Mansion. The Flea Market on Wednesday is a MUST SEE! From about 11 o?clock in the morning, tourists from all over the place start flocking to Anjuna. There are a lot of things up for sale from rugs and carpets to clothes, handicraft etc. You can buy the Goa Trance music CD?s and cassettes here. Ride an elephant, meet a snake charmer. Have a ball of a time.

    How do I get there?

Mapusa is the nearest town about 8 kms from Anjuna. Buses are available in plenty after every few minutes from Panaji and Mapusa. You can take a taxi or hire a motorbike to Anjuna.

    Where do I stay?

Budget hotels, guest houses etc are available in plenty. The Tamarind Lodge and The Anjuna Beach Resort are some of the good places to stay.

    What do I carry?

Nothing much, just some extra cash. You should keep your hands free for all that shopping you?re going to do. Heavy bargaining is advised.
